NEW DELHI: The government on Wednesday extended the tenure of General Anil Chauhan as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Secretary, Department of Military Affairs (DMA). Recently, Gen. Bipin Rawat was appointed as India's first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). The post of Chief of Defence Staff was created to provide “effective leadership at the top level” to the three wings of the armed forces and to help improve coordination among them.
