The Shore Temple is an ancient temple located on the shore of the Bay of Bengal in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu . The temple was built in the 7th century by Pallavas during the rule of Narasimhavarman. Shore Temple is a 7th century structural temple built by Pallavas on the shores of Bay of Bengal. It has three shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Ksatriyasimnesvara, and is decorated with sculptures and carvings. Mamallapuram Shore Temple , believed to be built during the reign of the old Pallavan king Rajasimha/Narasimhavarman II, is one of the oldest temples of significance in South India. The Shore Temple complex was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with other temples and monuments of Mamallapuram.
