Google released Android 16 on June 10th, far earlier than anyone expected, which helped speed up the Samsung Galaxy One UI 8 rollout. The Galaxy Android 16 update delivers an improved software experience, more AI goodies, home and lock screens improvements, better security, tighter privacy, and more. Samsung is now rolling out its One UI 8 update based on Android 16 , with a list of devices and a schedule available. Samsung is preparing to launch One UI 8 .5, based on Android 16 , alongside the Galaxy S26 series early next year. However, ahead of that, new details are already emerging about the next version, One UI 9, which will be based on Android 17. One UI 8 .0 is the eighth major iteration of Samsung ’s One UI . It’s based on Android 16 , and from our hands-on experience, it feels like a relatively minor update that’s closer to a x.1 release than a full generational jump.
