An asteroid that measures up to 300 feet across could smack into Earth in 2032, and while NASA says the chances of a collision are “extremely low,” the probability has been increasing since the... The chances of an asteroid striking Earth within the next decade has more than doubled in a matter of weeks, according to NASA astronomers. The Goldstone Solar System Radar, part of NASA’s Deep Space Network, made these observations of the recently discovered 500-foot-wide (150-meter-wide) asteroid 2024 MK, which made its closest approach — within about 184,000 miles (295,000 kilometers) of Earth — on June 29. NASA has confirmed that asteroid 2024 YR4, a space rock approximately the size of a 15-story building, might collide with the Moon on December 22, 2032. Primarily suspected to threaten Earth, the asteroids revised path features no risk to our planet. Even if debris were to enter the Earths atmosphere, it would burn up with causing any harm.
