Mukhar Ansari was a gangster-turned-politician who has been a five-time MLA from Uttar Pradesh's Mau constituency. He was a relative of former Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari . Authorities say Ansari died of a cardiac arrest but the circumstances of his death are disputed by his family. Mukhtar Ansari (30 June 1963 – 28 March 2024) was an Indian gangster, convicted murderer, [3] and politician, based in Uttar Pradesh. [4][5][6] He was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Mau constituency five times, including twice as a Bahujan Samaj Party candidate. Mukhtar Ansari was a former five-time MLA from Mau Sadar seat and had been behind bars in UP and Punjab since 2005. He had over 60 criminal cases pending against him.
