Kapil Dev (born January 6, 1959, Chandigarh, India) is an Indian cricketer and the greatest pace bowler in his country’s history. He is the only cricketer to have scored over 5,000 runs and taken more than 400 wickets in Test (international match) cricket. Kapil Dev took responsibility for the semi-final loss upon himself and never captained India again, although he continued to be India's first-choice pacer until he retired in 1994 as Test cricket's highest wicket-taker.
