Jhansi is the historical town in North India located on the banks of Betwa River and River Pushpavathi. Rani Laxmi Bai , queen of Jhansi from 1843 to 1853, is a national hero for her role in the Indian rebellion of 1857. She bravely resisted British rule until the end. Rani Lakshmibai was the queen of Maratha-ruled princely state of Jhansi , the present-day Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh. She is considered to be one of the most prominent leaders during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, who became a figure of resistance against the British Raj in India.
