Glutes meaning: Are weighted pistol squats

Are weighted pistol squats a good mass builder for the legs; specifically the glutes ? I have been hammering down on heavy kettlebell front squats but get a bit obsessive regarding symmetry so wanted to incorporate some unilateral leg work to rectify any imbalances. Is this a good exercise? Is... For the glutes this means hip internal rotation. Jamming your legs out sideways via clamshells, etc will only shorten the glutes more, and keep you more in external rotation. Try split squats and single leg deadlift variations where you: a) keep pressure through the mid foot of your working leg. No clawing the floor with your toes! First, place the barbell near you resting on the floor in front of your chest with your hand at chest height—exactly like the kettlebell rack. Then lower the height of the handgrip in order to increase the activation of the lats. Initiate the pre-activation sequence: Grip, Lats, Abdominals, Glutes , and then start your press. The glutes extend and externally rotate the hip, generally speaking. This means that to get internal rotation, the glutes must be allowed to lengthen in that range of motion.
