Learn how to calculate the curved surface area and total surface area of a cone using the formula πrl and πr(r+l), respectively. See the derivation of the formula and solved examples with diagrams. Learn the shape of a cone and how to find its surface area , volume, height, slant height, and radius with formulas, solved examples, and diagrams The cone is a 3 Dimensional shape. Similar to other 3D shapes, a cone has both flat and curved surfaces. The curved surface area of a cone specifically refers to the rounded part of the cone , excluding the flat circular base. To calculate the curved surface area (CSA) of a cone , we multiply the radius and slant height by pi (π). Example : The height of a cone is 16 cm and its base radius is 12 cm. Find the curved surface area and the total surface area of the cone . Solution : Here, h = 16 cm and r = 12 cm
