Finally, in September 2023, this Amendment was passed by both Houses of Parliament with resounding support, marking a major victory for gender equality and inclusive governance in India . Amendment not to affect reservation in the House of the People, the Legislative Assembly of a State or the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It attempts to analyse the provisions of the 106th Constitutional Amendment , which dealt with reservation of women in legislative bodies and the political participation of women. There are three types of amendments to the Constitution of India of which the second and third types of amendments are governed by Article 368. The first type of amendment must be passed by a "simple majority" in each house of the Parliament of India.
