We revisit the story of Captain Vikram Batra , and his contribution to India's victory in the Kargil conflict. Captain Vikram Batra , an officer in the Indian Army, known for his heroic actions during the Kargil War in 1999,achieved martyrdom during the Kargil War in 1999. He was serving as a captain in the 13th battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. Vikram Batra began his military career with the Indian Armys Jammu and Kashmir Rifles 13th battalion. Param Vir Chakra Vikram Batra is also known as Shershaah. On 7 July 1999, Batra was killed while fighting Pakistani troops at Point 4875 in the Kargil district of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir.
