Robbers Cave , also known as Guchhu Pani, is a popular attraction near Dehradun city center. It offers a chance to explore a cave with a cold stream, a play of light and shadow, and a history of robbers ' hideout. Robber’s Cave is famous for its river cave formation, where a stream disappears underground and re-emerges inside the cave. It is also known for its 10-meter-high waterfall and historical significance. The Robbers Cave Experiment , conducted by Muzafer Sherif in the 1950s, studied intergroup conflict and cooperation among 22 boys in Oklahoma. Initially separated into two groups, they developed group identities. Introducing competitive tasks led to hostility between groups. Later, cooperative tasks reduced this conflict, highlighting the role of shared goals in resolving group tensions. Robber’s Cave is a natural cave river formation also known locally as Guchhupani, which is one of the top sites to visit in Dehradun for sightseeing. The cave is around 600 metres long and is separated into two sections. The cave has a maximum drop of roughly 10 metres. There is a fort wall structure in the center that is now broken.
