The National Health Mission (NHM) has been launched to address the health care needs of the country. A tripartite collaborative Project for the training and certification of ASHAs (Accredited Social Health Activists) was undertaken by NIOS in collaboration with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC). ASHAs are at the core of health awareness, encouraging institutional delivery, child vaccination, and education in safe motherhood. They act as a bridge between rural society and public healthcare.
